Bird Mites

Bird Mites

non-aggressive painful bite + First Aid Info

Identification:

Bird mites have oval shaped bodies with short tiny hairs and 8 legs. They are extremely tiny ranging from 1/32” (0.75-1+ mm). They are nearly clear/semitransparent which makes them hard to see, because of their color and size, infestations may thrive for some time before the infestation is noticed.

Venom:

Non-Venomous Bird mites can cause skin irritations on humans.

Habitat:

Bird mites often live and feed (via blood meal) on birds such as pigeons, sparrows, starlings and chickens. Often times bird mites migrate indoors from an abandoned nest that was built on or near a structure/home.
