Identification:

Mud daubers generally are from ½ to 1 inch long. Mud daubers are colored either completely black or blue metallic. Some species have yellow or greenish markings on the body. Their body shape is often referred to as "thread-waisted" with some mud daubers possessing an extremely long and thin, stretched out looking body segment located between the thorax and abdomen.

Habitat:

Mud daubers make their nests with mud. They will often build their nests in sheltered areas such as on the side of the home in the corner of the eaves and porch ceilings.
