Cat Face Spider

Cat Face Spider

Latin Name:

Cat face spiders come in varying colors but are easily identified by the two horn shaped growths on their relatively large abdomen. The horns are said to look like cat ears and markings to indicate eyes.

Cat face spiders are considered to be harmless and have a low toxicity venom.

Cat face spiders belong to a group of spiders known as “orb weavers”. They also seem to prefer to build its webs near lights and in corners of outsides of buildings. The spider may be seen in the center area of the web or even working on a web repair. However they typically remain in a comfy safety zone at the corner of the web, waiting to feel the vibrations of its next meal landing in the web.
